Last one week, twitter was hugely bollywoodish. Couple of trailer of new movies were trending.

Karan Johar’s Agneepath – starring Hrithik & Sanjay Dutt

The Dirty Picture – starring Vidya Balan, Naseeruddin Shah

People raved about the trailers on Social Media. It appeared like the next big thing(s) in bollywood. When I saw the trailer. I said to myself  what the heck?

Why are the people so crazy and promoting so Ugly movies? (including the people I admire – @madhuribanerjee & @KaavyG)

Let me first talk about Agneepath – filled with super stars – all i could see in the trailer was hatred, fight and blood. Then it was Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture wearing low-cuts to re-iterate the Daring Image that she has.

Is there all left in Bollywood? the same old – sex sells or movies with hatred, blood and villainous to the core.

Agneepath was a hit, why remake?

Is there a dearth of new stories?

or your faith as a filmmaker on new stories or on new people has wavered?

Ekta Kapoor – high respect for the industry you’ve created, but also type-casted (correct word: downgraded) the image of an Indian Woman. With the dirty picture –¬† downgraded the image further.

Guys it’s time to look around and see what’s happening in and around the world. Look at brilliant Stanley ka dabba/ Chillar party / Pyar Ka punchnama / Avatar / 40 days and 40 nights / Eat, pray, love/…

Time has come to make some really good movies. I believe there are loads of new stories floating around in the new age Indian Novels. Just pick up and read. (if you can’t, just don’t make such rubbish ones)

How they did it

  1. Created a swanky silver paper that became the front page (advertisement) of TOI newspaper and distributed it across all major cities in India.
  2. Enabled text, voice, video tweets and published it everywhere across the social media, including the special site
  3. Created a solid campaign – the stakes Jetta car itself.


  1. Within few hours, #anything4jetta became the #1 twitter trend
  2. @volkswagenindia twitter handle – got additional 2500 followers in a day

Deadlines do work…


On Monday, the boss said, “I need you to send me a report by next Monday.”

I said, “Boss, but this assignment is similar to last one and the last assignment took about a Month.”

Boss said, “Give it your best shot. Good luck.”

fast forward to today, the magic happened. Things worked out smoothly.


  1. Was constantly aware of the deadline.
  2. Being present every minute.
  3. Utilizing the knowledge buried in colleague(s) heads.
  4. Took it as a challenge to deliver…

The output was comparable (Month vs Week). But what made possible is the Deadline.
